Nobody likes a bad hair day, or battling with dry, unmanageable locks.
Fortunately, a cheap and easy solution can be found in your kitchen
pantry. The same vegetable oils that you use for cooking are excellent
natural hair conditioners that penetrate hair strands to restore
suppleness and shine, and prevent split ends. Just a few drops of
essential oils add the extra conditioning power of flowers, herbs and
spices to your hot oil treatment.
Requirements
- 2 tbsp. olive oil
- 2 tbsp. coconut oil
- 1 tbsp. grape-seed oil
Instructions
1
Blend virgin coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, and grapeseed oil in a
glass bowl. Warm the oil in the microwave for about ten seconds.
Alternatively, you can place the bowl in a pan of hot water for a few
minutes to warm the oil. Add three drops each of essential oils of
rosemary and lavender and two drops of sage oil. Stir with a wooden
spatula until blended well.
2
Divide your hair into four sections. Test the warmed oil on the back of
your hand to make sure it's not too hot. Massage a small amount of the
oil into your scalp and then pull it through to the ends. Repeat the
process for each section.
3
Cover your oiled hair with a plastic conditioning cap. Sit under a
heating cap or bonnet dryer for 10 to 15 minutes. Alternatively, wrap
your head with a hot towel and insulate the hot towel with a second
towel to hold in the heat. When your time is up, shampoo and condition
your hair as usual with your favorite products.
